email-@_webThere are countless marketing methods open to the average business owner nowadays, with email still high on the list. The problem is that spam has turned the customer off, with many hitting delete before they even read the content. If you want to get the attention of your customers via email, use the 5 great tips listed below:

1. Use Emotion: If you pay attention to analytics on social media, which you should, you will see that emotional content gets shared. It doesn’t matter what type of products or services you are trying to sell, the facts will only carry you so far. Have that information in there, but go with an emotional lead that is sure to pull the customer in.

2. Throw in a freebie: This doesn’t have to be in the form of a gift of some kind. A more effective freebie is one that gives the people in your email list the opportunity to feel as though they are a partner or have a stake in your business.

The fact of the matter is that people don’t just want to buy from you; they want to feel as though they are effecting some kind of change. If you can convey that in your emails, expect them to come to you in droves. It’s all a matter of making them feel as though they are getting something beyond the product they are buying.

3. Get cute: Think of one of the most annoying, boring subjects in the world, and car insurance is sure to be high on the list. Insurance companies know this, which is why they add cute characters, such as a lizard with a cute accent, into their advertising.

This actually ties into the emotional aspect that we spoke about earlier, as well as being a piece of content that people talk about and share. Add a little touch of cuteness into your emails, as that will help make a serious topic that much easier to digest.

4. Ask your recipients to share: It is always good to end any type of marketing with a call to action. People who follow you are open to suggestion, which is why an audience at a concert will start to clap along when prompted to do so by the singer.

You don’t have to carry a tune to get people to follow your actions. Simply give them clear instructions on what to do.

Add a fun little gif at the end of your email asking the recipients to pass it along to their friends. You can add a “why” in there, letting everyone know the reasons for forwarding the email. It doesn’t have to be anything earth-shattering, and can in fact, be as lighthearted as the gif.

5. Honesty is the best policy: If you can use a tone that is honest and to the point in your emails, you will be rewarded with loyalty from your base. They will be quick to accept all the information that you offer up as being facts.

These five simple tips will give you the best chance of having your emails forwarded to the greatest number of people. It can take a little more work than you are used to when setting up your e-mails in this way for the first time. It will soon become second nature, though, and your business will very quickly reap the benefits.

Are you using any of these tips already?  We’d love to hear how they are working for you.
